publicLAB is a collaborative laboratory for experimenting with the spatial praxis
of architecture within its cultural, economic and political context. publicLAB promotes
the awareness of contemporary architecture practice in the public realm through its
curatorial and research production, and through criticism, writing, teaching + design
Annabel Vaughan is an OAA registered Architect, Collaborator with ERA Architects, Architect at People Design Co-op and Principal of publicLAB RESEARCH + DESIGN
Positioning an understanding of architecture within the city's political + cultural discourse, her recent interest lies in the intersection between architecture as a spatial practice reflected in a single built work and the broader role of architecture in the cultural production of the city. She writes, teaches and participates regularly in discussions concerning the role architecture and public art can play as an agent of political change in the city.
Their work ranges from small-scale landscape architecture insertions, civic and residential building design, urban design and research, organizing competitions, performance art lectures, and curatorial projects.
I acknowledge that I am living and working on land that is the stolen, unceded, ancestral territories of the Coast Salish Peoples; the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh and səl̓ilwətaɁɬ Nations. I am committed to
deepening my knowledge and learning how to live in relation with the land, its people and the water that flows through these territories.
